Nick qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse in London and moved to the Bristol office of Price Waterhouse in 1986.
In 1995 he joined Vodafone Group Plc where he held a number of governance positions and was a trustee of the Vodafone Global Foundation.
Between 2010 and 2014 he was initially responsible for financial governance before being appointed Director of Financial Operations with additional responsibilities for external financial reporting, internal management reporting, and budgeting at Essar Energy plc.
After retiring he took up a number of voluntary positions including being a Governor at Abingdon & Witney College where he has recently been appointed as Chair of Governors.
He has been a Trustee and Treasurer of Occtopus since July 2015
