Professor Neil Mortensen has been elected Chair of the charity

The Board of Occtopus is delighted to announce that Professor Neil Mortensen has been elected Chair of the charity following the retirement of previous Chair, Neil Ashley in January 2017 after 13 years’ service. The Trustees are very grateful to Neil for his excellent leadership of the charity’s affairs while in office and wish him all the best in his retirement. Neil Mortensen will be familiar to many of those who have dealt with the Department of Colorectal Surgery in Oxford and Occtopus. He was Head of the Department until he retired from that post last year . He remains Professor of Colorectal Surgery at the University of Oxford and is one of the world’s pre-eminent practitioners and researchers in the area of lower GI surgery. He was instrumental in the formation of the charity in 2003 and has been a Trustee since 2004.
